Elemental magic Costumes
Red-Clothed Cat, Frog, and Wizard Bunny are the clearest elemental starts. Each begins with the matching Fire, Lightning, or Ice Bolt and amplifies that element, but reduces Physical Damage Amplification. Choose the Costume that matches the element you intend to build from the opening reward screens.
Do not take an elemental Costume and then fill the inventory with unrelated physical pieces. If the matching Bolt and elemental support fail to develop, pivot early rather than carrying the physical penalty through the whole run.
Grimoire and MP Costumes
Ghost is the dedicated Grimoire option because Grimoires cost no MP, but its Weapon Damage penalty makes a failed spell engine expensive. Scholar Lizard provides a fixed MP pool that does not decrease, paired with a fixed 20 Max HP. Red-Hooded Rabbit improves MP recovery while reducing Max MP.
Choose Ghost when the run is intentionally built around Grimoires. Choose Scholar Lizard when the planned setup can protect a low-health character. Red-Hooded Rabbit is the lighter commitment for weapons that need MP recovery but still deal meaningful Weapon Damage.
Critical and Special Attack Costumes
White Rabbit is the direct Special Attack choice: it increases Special Attack Damage and Max MP at the cost of Evasion. This makes it a natural starting point for routes such as the White Rabbit Minigun video setup.
Otter supports critical builds with additional Critical Chance while losing Move Speed. Brown Rabbit does the opposite kind of trade, gaining Evasion while losing Critical Chance. Otter fits a route already committed to Precision; Brown Rabbit fits players who value a defensive chance layer more than critical consistency.
Dash and mobility Costumes
White Wolf provides Infinite Dash but removes Dash invincibility, so it changes Dash from a defensive escape into a positioning tool. Eagle adds two Dashes but slows their recovery. Adventurer Rabbit adds a Dash and recovery speed while heavily reducing Magic Haste. Braided Hair Rabbit raises movement and attack speed while slowing Dash recovery.
Choose by what the weapon needs. Crossbow may value repositioning between reloads, while Greatsword can use movement to create a safe commitment window. A Costume with more Dashes does not automatically make unsafe attacks safe.
Inventory and economy Costumes
Red Fox adds six inventory slots, making it valuable for Artifact-heavy routes such as Formless Dance, but halves healing received. The extra space should support a coherent Combo engine rather than several unfinished sets.
Forest Cat begins each exploration with 800 Leaves and gains Move Speed. Fairy of Fortune adds Luck but removes three inventory slots. Pink Bunny is a neutral progression option with increased Experience Drop and no listed drawback.
Artifact and companion Costumes
Turtle raises Artifact Damage and lowers Weapon Damage. It works when the Artifacts are the actual damage engine, not merely support for weapon attacks. Mole raises Companion Damage but loses Defense and Move Speed, so the companion route must justify a much riskier base character.
Wing-Eared Rabbit starts with Blessing and lowers Weapon Damage. Treat it as a support-oriented start and verify the current Blessing tooltip before building around a specific interaction.
Defensive and sustain choices
Armored Rabbit is easy to understand: more Defense, less Max HP. It can help new players learn ordinary enemy patterns, but the smaller health pool still punishes large hits.
Wingless Bat adds HP Absorption and appears in the Frozen Smelt setup. It rewards frequent safe hits, while its fixed single Dash makes positioning mistakes harder to correct. A sustain effect should recover small damage; it does not replace avoiding lethal boss patterns.

Costume selection checklist
- Identify the weapon’s main constraint: range, recovery, reload, MP, state, or inventory space.
- Choose a Costume that solves that constraint or supplies the starting trigger.
- Check whether its drawback attacks the same resource the build needs.
- Name a fallback for players who have not unlocked it.
- Confirm the current effect before importing an older preset.

What is the best Costume for beginners?
Pink Bunny is the simplest neutral option. Armored Rabbit adds defense but lowers Max HP, so it is forgiving against small hits without protecting against every mistake.
What is the best Costume for magic?
Use Red-Clothed Cat, Frog, or Wizard Bunny for a matching elemental route. Use Ghost when Grimoires are the central engine.
What is the best Costume for Minigun?

No. Appearance variants are cosmetic. Only the playable Costume rules affect the build.
